Thank you from the bottom of my heart for entrusting this leadership task to me, to bring the organizational transformation that we need at this very moment. I have to stand and fill the gap to keep us moving forward not just in the same direction but in the right direction of achieving our common desires, dreams, and aspirations about this organization. We all envisioned IECEP-KSA-CRC to rise and shine as a matured organization capable of walking on its own, with all its self-sufficiency to run its external and internal affairs.
It is past three years now since IECEP-KSA-CRC was founded. We have seen how this organization had grown by leaps and bounds. From its infanthood to a crawling baby and now heading to walk and run though sometimes it falls down. Apparently, some of us, have been impatient along the way, discouraged, and even frustrated as we see things different from our expectations. Some could not even wait any longer to achieve the perfect stature of this organization. Without realizing that growth and transformation will not happen overnight. But thanks to all of you that are still here with all of your overwhelming support. Thank you for bearing with us and for standing by in the middle of our ups and downs. It only shows that you love this organization and you are willing to sacrifice and you have chosen to write the new chapter of our history rather than be buried by the history.
Furthermore, I would like to recognize the immediate past president and his team of Board of Directors for making the year 2012 a monumental event in our history. They are Engr. Catalino Criste, Engr. Anthony Castrojo, Engr. Constantino Acance, Engr. Enrico Manalo, Engr. Ryan Paul Panilo, Engr. Jonathan Tiston, Engr. Perry Camson, Engr. Jojo Red, Engr. Rito Banan, Engr. Lester de Guzman, and Engr. Jandee R. Bonifacio.
So where do we go now from here? We have so many problems and needs and there is no perfect solution to the problems. My job as a the new elected president of this organization is to set its direction, to assess and provide feedbacks , to establish clear expectations, to foster growth and camaraderie, to encourage a positive attitude, to create an environment where people are respected and trusted and to bring unity. I will introduce new strategies as needed even if it calls for a radical change to help each members succeed individually and collectively in progressing toward our strategic goals. The new set of Board of Directors will be working out simultaneously on different projects and initiatives of which the framework will be lay out in our first IECEP kick-start up meeting. I have with me my own long list of agendas that I did mentioned plus your inputs. It is my desire that we will be all united in these projects and ambitious goals.
One of the target is to be the most outstanding IECEP organization awardee if not this year, in the years to come. Beginning today, I would like you to embark with me in this ambition. And we need to prove that and to have one mindset and work hard. So starting today, help me bring out the best of this organization, the best leaders, the best talents, the best individuals, and best professionals. That is to bring out the very best from each one of us. I will be grateful if you will contribute something in your own little ways anything that could achieve this progress. You are very much needed by this organization and I want each and every one of you to be partners in all our undertakings. I need your full support not merely in words but in deeds.
The task is so wide that we are also going to spearhead not only our local chapter but also the Philippines Professional Organization (PPO). I have accepted this great challenge and big responsibility and we know that this needs a sacrifice. Leadership is not about position and handsome points. It is about responsibility, volunteerism and commitment. It is about helping the organization to succeed without looking for personal gain. I am proud to be an IECEP member. You must be proud of that as we host the PPO and together we will be raising our IECEP banner as we push towards our goals. But first we need to serve.
So I appeal to you because I cannot do it alone. You are my greatest asset in the leadership. No single person has exactly the right combination of knowledge, expertise, and perspective needed to handle the entire job. It requires a collaborative effort and cooperation among us. We need to work as a team. Remove the idea that I am better than you or you are better than me. We should not compare. Indeed, we are all humans with weaknesses and sometimes made mistakes. Therefore, let’s complement each other instead and do it together without backbiting. Let us be professional and treat each other with love and respect as one family in the spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie.
My last advise to all of you and to myself from the lessons I learned in life, find out how people want to be treated and treat them that way. If you do, you will be very successful.
Once again, it is my great honor and privilege to serve you as our 2013 president. May God bless us all.
