Riyadh – IECEP-KSA-CRC proudly announces the successful conduct of the chapter’s 6th technical seminar entitled “Enhancing MS Office Skills”. The seminar was held on the 23rd of June 2017 at Corp Inn Executive Hotel in Riyadh’s Deira District. This technical seminar was attended by over 30 guests consisting of members, non-members and officers, and was credited with 4 CPD points by the PRC CPD Council for Electronics Engineering.
The event was kicked-off with an invocation by Engr. Leo Vincent Lao and followed immediately by the introduction of the resource speaker by IECEP-KSA-CRC President and Chapter Governor, Engr. Kenneth Vallespin.
The seminar’s resource person is Engr. Emmanuel “Noel” Yumul of Shabakkat Cellular Company, Saudi Arabia. Engr. Yumul is the Revenue Assurance Manager of the said company and has had many different stints in the world of telecom, academe, and entrepreneurship.
Engr. Noel is a BSECE graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in 1997 and has since received various successes in his professional career. Engr. Noel is a Professional Electronics Engineer (PECE), an ASEAN Engineer (AE) and, an Associate ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE). Engr. Yumul also served as the president of IECEP-KSA-CRC in 2016.
He is also engaged in leading a start-up holding company consisting of ECE professionals in the Middle East as the Chairman and CEO of All Networks Strategic Solutions, Inc. (ANSSI).
The seminar was targeted for basic office users to maximize the tools available in MS Office Suite. The end goal of the technical presentation is for the attendees to be more familiar with MS Office and be able to create better documentation and presentations. Utilize the Excel advance functions for their daily tasks in the office or field work.
The first part of the seminar tackled MS Office and the discussion covered the basics of inserting and setting in place pictures, utilization of the Mail merge function for printing and email, integrating with external data sources. This was then followed by the section in PowerPoint, discussing how to go about creating presentation from existing doc files, creating and editing a master slide for customized and more personal presentation, insertion of video links and pictures, timing & rehearsal. This topic ends the first part of the seminar.
The session was broken down for refreshments and coffee and announcements on the upcoming events and activities of the chapter.
Engr. Yumul promptly resumed the discussions and went on to tackle Excel, and covered various topics such as: utilizing the Autofill function, dealing with delimited text, how to prepare and activate pivot tables, using VLOOKUP, graph and plotting selected items, If then else programming and dealing with multi condition formula – SUMIFS. He then continued to MS Project where he discussed introducing the stages in setting up projects, allocating resources & plotting a time plan.
After entertaining several questions and requests of use cases from the participants, Engr. Yumul concluded the technical presentation.
The final part of the event was a closing remark by the Chapter Governor followed by announcements and a short message from Immediate Past President, Noel Yumul. This was then followed by the awarding of certificate of appreciation to the resource speaker officiated by the Council of Presidents composed of Past Presidents and Advisers in attendance (Engr. Kenneth Vallespin and Engr. Catalino Criste).
The event was concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Attendance to the participants and involved a lot of photo-ops, light moments and networking opportunities to help widen the reach of the electronics engineers and student communities in Saudi Arabia’s Central Region. This part was concluded by a commemorative group photo and an invitation to IECEP KSA CRCs upcoming technical seminar and activities. – IECEP-KSA-CRC 2017
