In 2009, a simple person with an extra ordinary vision became a CNN hero of the year. He is Efren Penaflorida, born in Cavite, Philippines. In his 2009 CNN hero of the year speech he said – “Within each person is a hidden hero”. In deed, it is now time to unleashed that hero from among each and everyone of us.
I am greatly humbled and honored to be elected as your VP-Education this year. I know the task would not be easy for all of us especially if the first task is building the backbone of a newly formed organization. Like any newborn baby who cannot walk by himself, we need first to develop a strong backbone of the organization from its infanthood. This great challenge would NOT be accomplished by just calling a single CNN hero. It requires unity and teamwork from among ourselves, leaders and members alike. The keys of having a strong backbone of an organization lies NOT ONLY on having a dedicated and committed leaders but on involvement of each members. Since I know that each member and leader of this organization is united by a common vision and mission, with a burning desire to contribute to the society as a whole, to strengthen us ECE professionals and associates in our chosen field of endeavors, we will definitely be triumphant in all our dreams and undertakings of this organization.
Like some world leaders, I belong to a hesitant leader. I prefer to do things on my own. I love to stay within the boundaries of my own comfort zone. It is true that a leader is not born, it is being made. I never dream of becoming a leader or be a hero. But I guess in every Filipino blood is a natural heroism. One thing is common to all of us Filipinos, we all have a passion to help and tend to show the bayanihan spirit wherever you are. You OFW are the true hero now a days. You are the source of inspiration for your country men. Your stories, your ups and downs, success and failure inspired me so much. So I have now the guts to come forward to be involved in the community service. Now that I am old I came to realized that servant hood is the only legacy I can leave to the society. So today allow me to offer my own little way to help. Let me say I am ready to unleash the hero within me. I now accept the challenge to serve the organization. Thank you for lending your trust to me. I wish I can exceed your expectations.
Fellow OFW, members of this organization, IECEP-Central Region Chapter, KSA, together let us raise the banner of a true Filipino hero in all four corners of the world. Together we can make the difference by unleashing that hero from among ourselves. Welcome to IECEP-KSA-CRC!
Mabuhay Po Tayong Lahat.
