In another seminar event, IECEP-KSA-CRC conducted the TERRESTRIAL TRUNKED RADIO (TETRA) SYSTEM and Building Management Systems on November 29, 2013 from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM at White Palace Hotel, Riyadh. Engr. Kenneth Vallespin, ECE, PMP described the operation of a basic conventional radio system. He also described the advantages of a trunked radio system over a conventional radio system. Then he gave the main characteristics of a TETRA radio system, its system features as well as network features.
The second seminar is about Building Management System delivered by Engr. Saijuhan Mustaham. BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems. A BMS consists of software and hardware; the software program, usually configured in a hierarchical manner, can be proprietary, using such protocols as C- bus, Profibus, and so on. Vendors are also producing BMSs that integrate using internet protocols and open standards such as DeviceNet, SOPA, XML, BACnet, Lonworks, and Modbus.
Engr. Mustaham further discussed the BMS characteristics, BMS functions, and its benefits. He also explained the schematic diagram on how it is installed on buildings and has shown samples of actual software programming to control the BMS.
