On World Health Day April 7, 2021, IECEP-KSA-CRC promotes the 1st Virtual Marathon for a Cause thru the initiative of Engr. Arnajel Pakkam, IECEP-KSA-CRC Sports Working Committee Chairman. The said 1st VM 2021 was initially open and discussed during the 2nd BOD web meeting and overwhelmingly, majority of IECEP-KSA-CRC BOD agreed and push to materialize the activities. It is over a year since Covid-19 Pandemic gave to all human in the world the most disruptive period in our nation’s history since the end of the war.
The caused impact that has been experienced to all human, the Saudi Arabia government prevent individuals to joined gatherings even the physical fitness activities has been compromised. Establishment like gym are closed, walking in the parks and other physical activities in public has been prohibited. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia government impose policies and penalties to individuals and groups who violate the Covid-19 health protocols.
Open to the Public: When the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian government declared to the public that gatherings are now allowed but only limited number of heads, less than five (5) individuals in a group to be exact. Physical fitness like walking in public and/or in parks are now allowed. In these way, citizens and residents in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Kingdom wide can now back to their physical activities to prevent their health in risk, especially to individual who suffer from hypertension and diabetes and shall follow the physical distancing guidelines. |
The IECEP-KSA-CRC 1st VM Marathon 2021 for a Cause was opened and launched on April 7 and end on April 16. The activity period will finish in ten (10) days. It is opened to members only and the VM is a 42km race competition, there is no specific place or play area as long that you log your steps progress anytime thru Mobile Apps – called STRAVA (www.strava.com).
The participant must send report/screenshot to the Sport Committee daily thru messenger chat group participants created to evaluate and log officially their progress. By promoting the slogan of “HONEST TO GODNESS” anyone found cheated, disqualification is applied automatically.
Declaration of Winners: The first ten (10) participants who completed the 42km race within the given period will be declared as winners and will receive certificates and special prices. The Top 3 Winners will receive medals, gold for the 1st place, silver for the 2nd place, and bronze for the 3rd place. And those who completed the race will receive their certificate of race competition. If no one has reached the 42km set in 10 days duration, the committee will then decide to select from highest to lowest distance achievements of the participants to conclude the Top 10 winners in the list.
Promotions: The activity is a fund racing initiative, and the proceeds goes to the Helping Hand Project, registration fee of 30SAR, and there will be two (2) categories: Junior (below 40 years old) and senior (above 40 years old). The winners are will be announce on the coming week a day before the 4th Webinar held.
