IECEP-KSA-CRC conducted a seminar entitled “Introduction to Long-Term Evolution” on August 30, 2013 at White Place Hotel, King Abdulaziz Road, Riyadh, KSA with around 70 attendees.
Engr. Emmanuel Yumul, EcE was the speaker of the seminar. Engr. Yumul is currently a Project Manager in a telecom firm in Saudi Arabia. He was also a business development manager in the Philippines and with a 16+ years experienced in the field of mobile communications.
Engr. Yumul started the discussion from basics communication system to understand a simple background of the technology. This refreshes the basic communication system for those who already forgot it.
The discussion is followed by Global System for Mobile Communication or simply known as GSM. Engr. Yumul discussed the GSM Architecture, protocol and standards. It also provides the evolution of GSM starting from its predecessor of 1G to 2G up to 2.5G. It also discussed about EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service).
Afterwards Engr Yumul, discussed the Wi-Max Technology (Worldwide Technology for Microwave Access) and 3G Technology. It also provides the architecture, requirements and differences between GSM architecture. Wi-Max and 3G is part of LTE technology.
The last part of the seminar was the Long-Term Evolution. It provided the technology and concept that LTE has a long way to as it needs to achieved 1Gbps bandwidth requirements in the future.
IECEP-KSA-CRC successfully conducted the seminar and Engr. Yumul shares his experiences, knowledge and the technology of LTE to the attendees.
